Reiki Classes

My approach to teaching Reiki:

Becoming a Reiki practitioner was a truly life-changing experience for me, and I have heard from many of my fellow Reiki folks that they felt the same way.  I consider it a great blessing to be able to pass this wonderful skill on to others.

My goal in teaching is to give you a strong background in the basics for each level as well as the opportunity to do lots of practice and receive feedback.

For this reason, I offer each level over several weeks, to allow you time to adjust to your attunements, ask any questions that come up, and practice in between classes. Students have the opportunity to practice during each class meeting.

As part of each level of training, I do an individual practicum with each student, in which the student both receives a Reiki session from me and gives me a Reiki session.  This allows me to give fuller feedback to them than I'm able to do by observation alone.

At the end of the training for each level, students find that they feel confident and joyful about using Reiki for themselves and those around them!

And I feel that the classroom training is only the beginning.  Each student continues learning each time he or she does Reiki, whether for self or others!

Who Can Use Reiki and How?

Although some people who receive Reiki training go on to work professionally as Reiki practitioners, many people incorporate Reiki into other mainstream or alternative health care approaches.  One often runs across massage therapists, acupunturists, chiropractors, nurses and osteopaths who actively use Reiki as one of their professional tools.

Hospice volunteers and staff use Reiki extensively in their work with the dying.  Reiki is particularly suitable for the hospice setting because it is gentle, without any manipulation of muscles, and because it promotes deep calm and a sense of well-being.

Finally, anyone who has family members or friends who could use a relaxing treatment now and again will have lots of opportunity to make use of their Reiki training!

In short, anyone who feels drawn to learn Reiki will undoubtedly find many ways to use it!

Why learn to Do Reiki?

If you've ever experienced a Reiki treatment, you know first-hand about the wonderful benefits of Reiki.  (See my Healing page for a list of some of these benefits!)  As a Reiki practitioner, you will be able to use Reiki both to soothe and heal yourself and to bring healing to those around you.

This ability to calm, soothe and heal is one of the most powerful gifts you can bring to those around you.  Providing the healing that Reiki can bring to others is gratifying beyond words, whether you choose to use it professionally or for friends and family.

Once you're trained in Reiki, you'll find that even if you're not actively giving a Reiki session, simply your presence can have a calming effect on those around you.

One of my students wrote about what using Reiki has meant to her:

"I am a student who is eager to learn, develop, and nurture this new part of myself.  I want to slow down and concentrate on learning, experiencing, and sharing Reiki.  I want the way that I feel when I experience it, either giving or receiving Reiki to stay with me because it makes me feel at peace and that all is right in the world.  I know it can help me facilitate the changes I want to make in my life, allowing me to live a happier, healthier, more balanced life.  Knowing what it has done for me makes me excited and hopeful for what it can do for others." -- Jeana

Another wrote:

"I have to tell you, although I do Reiki on myself every day, there's nothing like the lift and satisfaction of giving it to others.                                                   I remember when “giving” took on a whole different meaning for me when I finally had my own children and they were old enough to express true joy at opening gifts on Christmas morning.  I thought that I understood finally how giving was really supposed to feel.  Nothing could match that.  Now, this Reiki giving transcends that experience.  The feeling you give someone through Reiki is then mirrored in yourself!  It is both so simple yet so profound, that it could only be divine." -- Denise J.
